The other day I wrote a post on this blog giving a link to a video of Dr John Berardi talking about his two latest programs - Lean Eating For Men and Lean Eating For Women.

Three Chest workouts

The core of your body is your chest.  A lot of your bodies muscles are located in your chest, so keeping them fit is important. Major muscle that are located in the chest are pectoralis minor and pectoralis major.
There are many diverse ways you can workout your chest. Because there are many muscles contained in the chest, many calories are burned when it’s worked out. The shoulders and arms are also worked as you do chest exercises, providing upper body workout. Warming up before working out is important. To help build the chest there are some helpful tips below.

1. Bench pressing with dumbbells: On an exercise bench, make sure you lie down while holding the dumbbells. Make sure your elbows are bent at 90 degrees, with the dumbbells directly over the chest. Position your feet to be level with the floor. Pushing the dumbbells towards the ceiling and then return it to original position, making sure that the elbows does not lock up. Do about eight to twelve a set. As your strength increases, so should the number of weights and sets.  

2. Using dumbbells with chest flies: Even though you’ll only feel it on your outer chest area, you’ll get a full chest workout when adding in bench flies. To start, on an exercise bench, lie down. Place the dumbbells over your chest. Slightly bend the elbows, with the palms of your hands inward. With the weights outward, lower them to the sides, making a semi circle. Stop at shoulder length and then bring the weights back up again. Eight to twelve repeats per set will do. The number of weights and repeats you do is determined by your increased strength.

3. Pushups is a chest exercise that is one of the most effective. Pushups: Is believed to be one of the most useful chest exercises. The abs, back and thigh muscles are also worked when doing pushup for a chest workout. It’s important to not arc your back and to hold your abs in from sagging when doing pushups. Now, get down on your hands an knees with the hands directly below the shoulders to support your weight. Lower your chest to barely be above the floor after bending your arms from elbow position. Use the floor as leverage and push yourself up. Increase the number of sets as you do the exercise eight to twelve times.
